Hi, I'm Riley. If you're reading this then I would like to personally thank you for visiting my blog. This post is actually my very first ever blog post. I just want to make it clear that I am by all means, not a professional writer. Personally, I have wanted to start a blog for quite some time but I just never did...until now. Yep, I told myself I was going to make the most of this year so here I am, writing my first ever blog post. So let's get down to the basics, shall we?
About Me
My name is Riley Hovick. I am a twenty something year old from Monroe, North Carolina who is an engaged college girl just trying to plan a wedding and receive a bachelor's degree all while staying in shape and eat all the food. I am also the driver of a Fiat 500 named Fifi who has a slight (more like huge obsession) with the shows The Office, Friends and literally anything on HGTV. Yep, that sounds like the most perfect description of me.
So to elaborate on that sentence a little more, yes I am in college. I am a student at Wingate University (GO BULLDOGS!) I am there to obtain my degree in Elementary Education so I can teach the tiny human beings. I just started this past January. Before that, I was a student at a local community college studying to acquire my associate's degree. Which I am proud to say I am one degree down and one more (well for now) to go!
Also, yes I am engaged. I am engaged to my amazing high school sweetheart. He proposed to me at sunset overlooking the water in Miami and I must say it was the best day ever. We have been dating for several years and his proposal to me was actually a huge surprise believe it or not. Because we both love Friends, his favorite reference is that he "Chandler Bing-ed" me because like I said, it seriously took me by surprise. The wedding, however, will be way after I graduate so in the meantime, I am so excited to embark on the journey that comes with "adulting".
Why Happy Healthy Hovick?
So maybe you are wondering, why did I choose the name Happy. Healthy. Hovick.? We'll start with Happy. I consider myself to be a pretty positive, upbeat and relatively happy kind of person. Despite all the negativity that may be happening, I try to find at least positive thing that happened in my day. Even something so small as getting all the green lights on my commute home from work.
As for healthy, I have been on a weight loss journey since the fall of 2016. Growing up, I was always the chubby one. The problem is my height and my love for food (especially dessert, omg) but that is still no excuse. I was at my all time heaviest my first semester in college and in November I said I will not gain 15 pounds during the "freshman fifteen" but instead I will loose 15 pounds. I am happy to say that I did indeed loose the 15 pounds but since then I am almost down 50 POUNDS!
My Reason
My reason for starting this blog is for you to see no matter who you are and what it is you're trying to achieve, you can do it. I am just your average broke, bride to be, a college student who loves to workout, eat all the food and shop with whatever spare change I can scrounge together. So throughout this blog, I hope you find something that you can relate to and you're then able to find your own inspiration to achieve whatever it is that you want to do.
So thank you again for visiting my first ever blog post and until then, peace out!
♡Riley
