Hi everyone! Now before I share my favorite weight loss trick, I just wanted to say that I am in no way affiliated with Hydro Jug. I just really love mine. However, if you feel inspired to buy one by the end of this post, then I will include the link at the end.
Okay, so as I said in my last post, I am almost 50 pounds down. I should also point out the fact that this has all been done naturally, meaning I have not used any wraps, teas, coffees, etc. I have been asked multiple times how I have done it. I tell them there are three things that I have done over the years. Those are:
excising regularly
eating right
but my biggest piece of advice and my favorite weight loss trick is drinking a gallon of water a day
or as I call it, the #gallonchallenge. Now I know what you must be thinking, a gallon of water a day. That seems impossible but coming from the girl who struggled to drink at least 8 oz of water a day, it is possible, I promise!
So I may or may have not lost you at this point. I understand that a gallon of water a day seems insane. However, there are many benefits to drinking a gallon of water a day. Here is a "small" list of reasons why I drink a gallon of water and I encourage you to do the same:
It is a known fact that you're supposed to drink half your body weight in ounces. It's a real thing. Take your weight ÷ 2 = your amount of water to drink in ounces. It is also a known fact that drinking enough water can help maintain weight and help with weight loss.
I used to get easily overheated and that had a lot to do with the fact that I was not hydrated. Now that I drink a gallon a day I have not had that problem. Drinking enough water will keep your body hydrated which will allow it to function properly.
Water is known to help with skin complexion and if you struggle with acne like me, then drinking water is the cure for you. It also helps with dry skin. Again, a hydrated body means hydrated skin. I used to have acne. I know we all suffered from the occasional break out in our teens but I was in my early 20's at this point and I swear I would see a new breakout every single day. I also suffered from such dry skin, especially around my mouth and it was so painful. Because I started drinking a gallon of water, I only break out occasionally and I haven't had dry skin since.
Back in my "fatty" days, I would always get so hungry after I ate. Now, this may have been because I wasn't properly portioning my meals and getting the correct amount of protein or it could have been because I was bored. Whatever it may have been my mom would always tell me to drink a big glass of water and then wait 30 minutes to see if I am still hungry. I always got really annoyed when she told me to do this because I knew I wasn't thirsty, I was just hungry. Years later I now understand why she told me to do that because water helps maintain your hunger. Now I am not saying you can just drink water and eat no food because. No, what I am saying is that if you "think" that you're hungry even after you ate a big meal, drink a glass (and I mean a big glass, not a shot glass) of water and let yourself decide after 30 minutes if you're still hungry.
Hopefully, by now, I may have sparked your interest in drinking the proper amount of water. Or maybe you want to drink more water and attempt my #gallonchallenge but you have no clue how on earth you would do it. Here are my biggest tips to successfully drink a gallon of water every day.
As soon as you wake up, fill up your cup. Even if you don't start to drink water until later, having it filled up will encourage you to drink it.
Bring it with you EVERYWHERE you go. No matter if you carry a jug like me, or small cup, never leave it behind. I get told daily, wow you have a big cup. At first, it was kind of embarrassing, especially when I started at my university. But now I embrace it and I am proud to carry my big jug around town. It goes with me to class, to work, on my weekend adventures and on vacations.
If you need a constant reminder to drink your water, download an app. My personal favorite is "My Water". It's a free app that allows you to set custom reminders of when to drink water. When I first started my #gallonchallenge I had a reminder set up for every hour.
Lastly, my biggest piece of advice, try to finish all of your water an hour before you go to bed. Unless you want to keep waking up in the middle of the night to pee, trust me on this one.
I hope you found this post to be pretty inspiring. So maybe at this point, you're wondering what the #gallonchallenge is and maybe you want to do it too. Awesome! So the gallon challenge is a little challenge that I started with myself to see if I could drink a gallon of water a day every day for a month. When I started drinking a gallon a day I knew I needed a way to track it in order to stay accountable. I personally love something that I can physically check off and lucky for you guys I have created a 30-day #gallonchallenge tracker that you can access here.
Lastly, like I promised you all in the beginning if you wish to purchase your own Hydro Jug, you can purchase one here. So until then, thank you again for visiting my blog and I hope to see you back soon!
